Who we are

ChatCards ("we", "us") is operated as an independent service. Our contact address is privacy@chatcards.app.

What we collect

  • Account data: email address, date of birth, name (optional), UI preferences
  • Learning data: decks, cards, learning materials, study session results
  • Usage data: timestamps of actions, session information
  • Third-party auth: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google

Why we collect it

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the service (contract)
  • To send transactional emails — verification, password reset, data exports (contract)
  • To comply with legal obligations (e.g., responding to valid legal requests)
  • Date of birth: age verification for content settings (legitimate interest)

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

AI processing

When you use AI features, your learning material content is sent to a third-party AI provider (e.g., Anthropic). If you provide your own API key, requests go directly to that provider under your account. We do not retain source material after AI processing is complete.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion at any time. Upon deletion, personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. Use the profile page to download your data or delete your account. For other requests, email privacy@chatcards.app.

Cookies

We use session cookies (required for login) and a language preference cookie. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Copyright complaints

If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, please contact us at copyright@chatcards.app with details of the infringement. We will investigate and remove infringing content promptly.

Changes

We will notify registered users by email before making material changes to this policy.
